How is scalp psoriasis treated?

The good news is that although there’s no cure, there are effective treatments. The first thing you should do is to consult your GP. Then, if you’ve been prescribed something, and you are not achieving as positive a result as you had hoped or if you are experiencing any side effects, don’t be afraid to go back and discuss this with your GP. More and more treatments are becoming available so your doctor may be able to offer an alternative.

There are four types of treatment:

Different types of treatment are often combined. Most people use topical treatments for their scalp psoriasis.

Patients can sometimes experience poor therapeutic results in scalp psoriasis, as many treatments are unpleasant to use. Many of the treatments available can be messy, smelly, or greasy-looking leave-in preparations that are troublesome to continue using. However, there are more recent scalp psoriasis treatments available that are fast, effective and easy to use.
